Mumma News - 2009

We are in a new location and less than 2 miles from our previous home. We moved in January to a beautiful wooded lot above the Heart of Lancaster Hospital in Lititz. We feel hugged by God each day with the beauty of the farmland out the front, to the animals (deer, chipmunks, cardinals, blue jays, etc.) in the woods behind us. Every room has fantastic beauty out the windows. We were able to find a place with land that allows us to live on one level and flow with ease through the house on Zeke’s wheelchair. We were able to remodel a bathroom for Zeke so we can walk/roll him right into bathe. God found us a diamond in the rough.

Our toothless, 6 year old son, Zeke, has undergone some new therapies this year. We attended a training in Montreal, Canada called ABR (Advanced Biomechanical Rehabilitation). We do special techniques to help strengthen Zeke’s inner soft muscle area around his organs which will help his overall structure. We look forward to seeing the progress of this therapy. Zeke also did some HBOT (hyperbaric oxygen therapy) which helped decrease his rigidity and allow him to reach and lift from his shoulders more often. We are still doing many programs from the IAHP (Institute for the Achievement of Human Potential) but have now incorporated others as well. One of Zeke’s biggest accomplishments is no more g-tube feedings. He last was fed by g-tube in September of 2008. So, we look forward to the removal in the near future! Your support has allowed us to do these therapies for Zeke. We look forward to successful fundraisers this year. Enclosed are two flyers about them. Feel free to pass the word. He also has a website www.zekemummafund.org

Derek, our 2 year old, continues to investigate and explore his world and our new property. He loves his big, new sandbox especially burying his brother’s feet. The animals, insects, and planes flying over our house intrigue him each day.

Don’s enjoying the competitiveness of playing softball and also keeping up with house duties/improvements. He had “fun” digging out the sandbox for the boys and also digging a fire pit for his wife and others to enjoy. He’s in his 11th year at Haller’s managing the service department. So, if you need plumbing, HVAC or electrical work, call Haller’s.

Laurie treasures her time at home with the boys in the tranquility of the new home. She loves going to bed with the view/lights of the shopping center/hospital in the distance and waking up in the morning to a beautiful forest view with squirrels and chipmunks getting their breakfast. She’s able to do Zeke’s therapies with (did I mention) great scenery from the windows and peacefulness by the sandbox (verses a cement wall basement). She gives pitching lessons to girls in the summer on the mounds in the backyard and over winter at B2B Baseball/Softball Academy.

Thanks to the many of you who help our family in more ways than we can mention. We look forward to strengthening these friendships as the years progress. Thanks for your prayers, help and support.

Love and blessings, 227 W. Woods Dr., Lititz
